Although a small step but a greater victory……

Neiphu Rio the single-handed Lok Sabha member and the former CM of Nagaland state , on Saturday mentioned that Naga’s have not failed in their political fight , but rather have prospered as the center has recognized Nagas issue – as a political as well as had a knowledge about the Naga tribes  exclusive culture and their antiquity. Being as chief guest on the 2nd day of 50 years celebration of the Diphupar Naga Youth Organization (DNYO) at Diphupar local ground here last Saturday, Rio mentioned in his speech that “ the sacrifices, sufferings and humiliation that Nagas faced have not gone in vain because “government of India had recognized our struggle”.

Rio therefore, pressed the Nagas to celebrate although a little they have achieved instead of accusing one another, describing positive gestures the ongoing compromise between centre and NSCN (I-M) and recent invitation of six NNPGs for peace process by the Government of India (GOI), where  Rio showed his opinion that Nagas should all welcome and extend support , adding to this in his speech he mentioned , “we should take the settlement what is available today.” It is not only the Nagas who had been suffering , Rio too mentioned that ,  many- races, people,  nations had suffered much more than they had . Moreover, this sufferings, had made them sensible and robust as mentioned by Rio.

So, therefore Rio raised his speech that it was for Nagas to recognize and come together to co-exist and have inclusive settlement that was honorable and acceptable to the people of Nagaland. Rio put a throw in his speech by stating – “We have to take the ownership for our own future. We want settlement to come and we want peace to be here in our land to grow and to become stronger”.

In the meantime, the MP also lauded the DNYO for committing themselves for the welfare and protection of Diphupar village. He observed that Golden jubilee celebration was a time for reflecting the 50 years of achievements and failures and also to retrospect and celebrate the achievements. In which Rio exclaimed, that “It is also a time to take the challenges to inspire one another and move forward for a better future” .  Diphupar as a mini Nagaland, with composition of all 16 tribes and other ethnic tribes, the MP expressed joy that the village was focused on unity in diversity for the promotion of Naga traditions and customs. In this Rio states that, “If we unite and understand to co-exist with one another we can change for the better and have a better future”.  Showcasing that future belonged to the youths; Rio challenged DNYO to be a role model and bring about positive change and to fight against negativity with the wisdom of the elders.

In this auspicious occasion, Rio also released a souvenir of DNYO and make public the Golden Jubilee monolith, besides this among the dignitaries Postal Services Director- Nagaland who released a special cover remembering the historic event.

At this gathering, jubilee message of Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu MLA, who could not attend, was read out. Diphupar Village Council (DVC) chairman, Lanutoshi Pongen, and Naga Students Federation (NSF) vice president addressed esprit de corps messages marking the day. With this jubilee greetings were brought by jubilee planning committee, convener Dr. T. Lima Jamir, in the meanwhile presidential address was conveyed by DNYO president- Vekre Puro.

In which words of gratitude were proposed by Vice president- DNYO Kikheto Sumi, and blessing by, Chakhesang Baptist church Diphupar. The Lotha Youth organization and jubilee choir enchanted the gathering with special performance of choir. The highlights of the programme included cultural presentation by Eastern Naga People Union Diphupar Area, youth Organization Diphupar, Tangkhul youth Organisation, Diphupar, Rongmei youth Organization Diphupar. Amongst others, Advisor DUDA, Pangyu Phom, MLA, C.M.Chang, parliamentary secretaries, Dr.Longri and Namri Chang, a host of dignitaries, representatives from various organizations, village council members of different groups and public of Diphupar Village were part of the occasion.

Telling about the chief guest for the evening session, MP Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye, honored the pioneer, the first president of DNYO, K Medom, for the successful completion of his tenure in  past 50 years. He too expressed his thankfulness and gratitude towards the organization for inviting him to grace the occasion. Revealing about Diphupar village as the -doorway of the state towards the future ,  he said the village was so fortunate to have CIHSR, NEZCC, Airport within the locality and with Chathe river flowing across and National Highway passing through this village. A comparison of the past events with the present events when told he mentioned that- “we should leave from the past generation to be responsible citizens.” Additional to this, upholding Naga citizens of state Nagaland have been blessed with so much talent was expressed by Kenye . His final up words of his address were – “one just needs to explore what is inside us and look back at what we are capable of.”
